Buffalo Niagara International Airport Chooses SightLogix Intelligent Video Security System

Princeton, NJ (October 12, 2010) – SightLogix®, the leading supplier of automated outdoor video analytics systems for area and perimeter security, announces that Buffalo Niagara International Airport has selected the SightLogix video intrusion detection system. The system will be installed by U&S Services, a Tonawanda, New York, systems integrator. The design comprises Thermal SightSensor intelligent video cameras for detecting and tracking intrusions over large areas and SightTrackers which automatically steer Pelco PTZ cameras to follow targets, providing complete situational awareness over the airport’s perimeter.

The SightLogix system’s longer-range capabilities allowed U&S Services to exceed the automated detection area originally specified in the design. By reducing the number of poles, trenching and communication requirements, U&S Services was able to design a more accurate security system within the existing budget.

“Our goal is to provide the best solution for our customers,” said Russ Stuber, President of U&S Services. “We evaluated several alternatives for the Buffalo Niagara International Airport perimeter security project and found SightLogix to be the best performing and most cost-effective option for this challenging outdoor environment. The system can operate with a high degree of accuracy in the snow, rain, and bitter temperatures of the Buffalo winter, while covering large distances to reduce the project’s cost. A key element to leverage these benefits was SightLogix’ open-standards approach, which allowed seamless integration with the VMS, PTZ cameras, and Video Management Systems.”

“As the region’s fastest growing airport, we strive to provide the highest levels of security using best-in-class technology,” said Captian Christopher Chiodo, Security Coordinator for BNIA. “By selecting SightLogix, we gain new levels of security awareness in support of our outdoor security function.”

“SightLogix solutions were developed specifically for accurately securing large open areas. After a thorough evaluation of technologies, the airport modified their plans to benefit from our technology,” said John Romanowich, President and CEO, SightLogix. “We’re pleased to have been selected by the Buffalo Niagara International Airport for their perimeter security project.”
