Rail Security for Class 1 Railroad

Princeton, NJ (July 29, 2014) − SightSensor video analytic thermal cameras from SightLogix have been deployed to increase security of the nation’s rail system for a major Class 1 railroad. The advanced video detection technology is being funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s 2011 Freight Rail Security Grant Program (FRSGP). Funds are allocated to freight railroad carriers that own railways in order to strengthen their ability to protect against threats, and to maintain the security of critical surface rail infrastructure such as bridges and tunnels. Communication Concepts Inc., a Florida-based certified SightLogix systems integrator was awarded the contract to design and install the systems.

In July 2011, a security consultant suggested the NYSBA look at the SightSensor, a motion-based video surveillance tool, for possible use on and around the Hudson River bridges. The system has been operational for about a year and a half, providing a “huge return on investment,” while the authority “relies on the technology on a 24/7 basis.”

JAXPORT Deploys Thermal Video Analytics for Port Security

After careful evaluation and multiple on-site demonstrations of perimeter security solutions over the course of three years, JAXPORT selected a SightLogix smart thermal video analytics system to keep their perimeter secure. For several weeks during this appraisal period, a thermal analytics system was installed at JAXPORT for evaluation. This testing confirmed that the SightLogix system functioned with a high degree of detection accuracy and low nuisance alerts, accurately detecting intruders over long distances. Testing also demonstrated that SightLogix’ edge-based camera system was compatible with the port’s existing command-and-control system.
